Motorcycle Slow Speed Riding School
Steve and Chuck have a combined 45 years of experience riding for the State Police, and they’re both certified Police Motorcycle Instructors who have completed 1,500 hours of NH State Police Motorcycle Unit training.
We are offering a full day slow-speed motorcycle riding course, focusing on slow speed techniques, such as a cone weave, circles and other patterns. Riders should be prepared to ride all day with appropriate riding gear. All types of street-legal motorcycles are welcome. The class will run from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. at NHMS during track days (riders can participate in the track day or the slow speed school, but not both). The famous Fishtail Lunch is included. Class size is limited to six riders. Registration is handled through the Sign-Up page.
Riding Gear and Bike Prep
Preparing your bike and gear for the slow speed school is easy. Make sure you and your bike are in good running order, just like you would for any street ride. Here a few specifics:
- Helmet, DOT certified, 5 years old or newer
- Gloves
- Over-the-ankle boots
- Long pants
- Long-sleeve jacket or shirt
- Eye protection
For your bike:
- No fluids leaking
- Brakes in good working condition
- Tires with sufficient tear, in good condition
- Throttle working smoothly (returns to off position without binding)
There is a possibility you may drop your bike, so we advise you to remove saddlebags, mirrors or other chrome bits you don’t want scratched. Covering your crash bars with duct tape or hose is a good way to protect them from an accidental spill.
