Motorcycle Track Day Preparation

Safety and fun are an important part of every Fishtail day. We have an excellent safety record and take pride in our friendly atmosphere. Having a great day at the track begins at home by making sure you are properly prepared. Take the time to ready yourself and your motorcycle at home, and your day will be stress free.

So it’s your first track day (or you haven’t been here in a while), and you’re wondering what to expect. Fear not!! Everything is under control! Read about what to expect from check-in through technical inspection and your first laps of the track.

To participate in one of our track days, you need a very basic set of gear and your motorcycle must pass a technical inspection. Please take note of required items – especially safety gear. If you fail to bring required items will not being able to ride.

Fishtail Riding School is geared to the street rider and track day enthusiast, so we keep our gear requirements to a minimum to maintain safety. If you typically wear good gear on the road, you probably already have what you need.

Assuming you’ve gone through the bike and everything is in order for the day, prepping your bike for the track is pretty straight forward.

The main gate opens at 7:30 a.m. Anxious riders begin showing up between 7 and 7:15 to wait in line for the gates to open. Relax. We keep our numbers low and assign garage spots, so the competition for space is at a minimum.

Because Fishtail is not a race school, bike prep is pretty straight forward. We do not require safety wiring or coolant replacement. The things you’ll need to make your bike safe for our track school are pretty much the same things you’d need to make it safe for street riding.
